Many have started donating to the people of Haiti since the earthquake. Am I not practicing Christianity when I am thinking..."If they believed in God and followed Him instead of their gods, maybe they wouldn't be in that situation"?
I don't know. In same ways, this is a valid question. Yet in other ways, it is not. In some ways, we wonder would God have allowed that if they were right with Him? Possibly. On the other hand, Jesus talks about the man born blind, and when asked whose sin caused it, whether his or his parents, he replied that no sin caused it. He explained how the disease was there due only to the fact that God wanted to display his glory in that man.
Also, remember Job, a righteous man.
Finally, what about the Christians who live in Haiti, yet possibly had their homes and/or families destroyed?
My answer to your question is, "I'm not sure." I think the best answer to hold to in that question is, "I don't know why God allowed it, but He did so for a good reason." And while I don't have monies to give to those people, it is my duty to pray for them, that they will seek the LORD in this time.
